Fonts must be in the prescribed Charles Wright font which measures 79mm high x 50mm wide.

Standard

Requirements

The number plates on your vehicle must:

1 Be made from a reflective material

2 Display black characters on a white background (front plate)

3 Display black characters on a yellow background (rear plate)

4 Not have a background pattern

5 Be marked to show who supplied the number plate

6 Be marked with a British Standard number - this is ‘BS AU 145e’ for plates fitted after 1 September 2021

Regional symbols

Regional or country indicators with accompanying flags are 'OPTIONAL' and must be situated on the extreme left of the plate.



The representative terms are 'UNITED KINGDOM', GREAT BRITAIN', 'ENGLAND', 'SCOTLAND', 'CYMRU' and their associated flags are the only emblems permitted on UK number plates.
