Plate Details

MY20 ROM is a current-style registration issued in March 2020. Current style plates use a two-letter area code, a two-digit year code (20), and a three-letter random sequence. The 20 area code identifies it as originating from the Manchester DVLA office, covering North West England. Under DVLA rules, this plate can be assigned to any vehicle first registered on or after March 2020 — it cannot make a vehicle appear newer than it actually is.

Frequently Asked Questions

• What could MY20 ROM represent? +
Many people would see MY20 ROM as representing the name or word Room or Zoom. As with all personalised number plates, the registration has no official meaning — it is a combination of letters and numbers issued by the DVLA that buyers choose for its personal significance.
• Where is the cheapest place to buy MY20 ROM? +
NewReg.co.uk currently lists MY20 ROM at £1,345, with a total all-in cost from £1,425 including the £80 DVLA transfer fee. NewReg operates a price match guarantee — if you find the same plate advertised cheaper by another dealer, we will beat that price. Full DVLA transfer handling is included at no extra charge beyond the £80 DVLA fee.
• Why are some MY20 ROM listings priced much lower than the market rate? +
Some dealers advertise plates with a headline figure such as “from £200”, which can refer to their minimum site-wide price rather than an actual price for MY20 ROM. The genuine market value of MY20 ROM reflects its specific characteristics — plate format, letter combination, rarity and any name or word that buyers may associate with it. NewReg lists MY20 ROM at £1,345 — the true market price — with a price match guarantee: if you find MY20 ROM legitimately offered cheaper by another UK dealer, we will beat that price.
• What is included when I buy MY20 ROM from NewReg? +
Your purchase of MY20 ROM from NewReg includes: full DVLA transfer service — we handle all paperwork on your behalf at no extra charge beyond the standard DVLA transfer fee, a certificate of entitlement, and road-legal acrylic number plates. The £80 DVLA transfer fee is shown separately at checkout and paid direct to the DVLA. NewReg has been a DVLA-recognised reseller and CNDA member since 1989.
• What year is the MY20 number plate? +
The 20 year code on MY20 ROM identifies it as a March 2020 registration. Current style plates are issued by the DVLA twice a year — in March and September.
• Where was MY20 ROM originally issued? +
The MY area code on MY20 ROM identifies it as having been issued by the Manchester DVLA office, covering the North West England area of the UK.
• Can I put MY20 ROM on my car? +
Under DVLA rules, a number plate cannot make a vehicle appear newer than it is. MY20 ROM can be assigned to a vehicle first registered on or after March 2020 — it cannot be placed on a vehicle registered before that date.
• Does NewReg offer a price guarantee on MY20 ROM? +
Yes. NewReg guarantees you will not find MY20 ROM advertised cheaper by any other UK dealer. If you do find a lower price for the same plate, we will beat it — our guarantee covers the full cost including the plate rights, VAT, and the DVLA transfer fee. • What does MY20 ROM mean as a personalised plate? +
